Kerala Crime Files, the first Malayalam series from streaming giant Disney Plus Hotstar, released on June 23. Directed by Ahammed Khabeer and produced by Rahul Riji Nair under the banner of First Print Studios, the web series stars Aju Varghese, Lal, Zhinz Shan, Navas Vallikkunnu, Sanju Sanichen and Devaki Rajendran.
Kerala Crime Files revolves around the investigation by the local police into the murder of a sex worker in a lodge in Kochi.
A lot of expectations were riding on Kerala Crime Files as it was the first big series from the Malayalam entertainment industry. And I am happy to report that the web series delivers. It is a taut, engaging and well-made police procedural. The performances by Lal, Aju Varghese, Zhinz Shan, Navas Vallikkunnu and Sanju Sanichen are the icing on the cake. The other actors do their job well too. Ahammed Khabeer, who earlier impressed the audience with June (2019) and Madhuram (2021), once again proves his storytelling skills. Ahammed is surely one of the most promising new generation directors in the Malayalam film industry.

With six episodes of 30-minute runtime, the web series is well worth your time.
